LM_SLR concept for LoclalMotors Challenge 2014

"

As they presented the goals of this design project, to be produced on 3Dpriner, to be fabricated in as few pieces as possible, I was following this goal. The main body includng seats is one piece. Basic cockpit, the Interior Trim, Dashboard and Seats structures have been blended into the overall shape creating a rigid one piece product will fit the frame. Sure the glossy surfaces will go trough milling process to get them nice glossy. Afterwards thay can be coloured. Some other little parts would be 3d printed separately. Primarily they are design details, so they could be cut out. Until The B pillar the height of the one piece carbon fiber carosery fits those needed parameters, sure maybe must be a bit rotated on the printer couse front running down a bit. Under evolution i had to cut out the optional roof and doors that you can see on some renders. Concept is fitting the 2 passenger seats package configuration. The RB_LocalMotorsSLR vehicle as I named it, has a shortened windshield. I`d rather prefer the version of doors opening upwards, but they are not inline with the design brief. Sure electricity power is environment friendly, and the batteries are in place. SLR is powered by huge petrol engine, but this concept flows by electric powertrain. Reviews proof that these are powerful. To understand, exhaust pipes are just cosmetic. The design is inspired by SLR VISION coupe by Mercedes. Hope you see those curves and details on the concept. I found it much interesting quite a tradicional vehicle to be fabricated using 3D printing process. So the concept takes advantage of new possibilities offered by direct digital manufacturing technique. 3D Logo in the center of hood is thou by LocalMotors Company.
